Two associations representing industries that help businesses store and manage sensitive information announced Wednesday they will merge into a single group.
The National Association for Information Destruction and PRISM International (Professional Records and Information Services Management) will unite to form the International Secure Information Governance & Management Association, or i-SIGMA, according to a joint statement by the groups.
NAID is a $2.5 million-revenue association based in Phoenix, Ariz. PRISM is a $1.4 million-revenue group based in Chicago. Both plan to maintain their separate identities after the merger, but an interim board of directors formed from both group's boards will lead i-SIGMA until general elections are held in 2020.
"As a merged entity, we will have a stronger voice with policymakers, regulators, and decision-makers," PRISM board President Christopher Jones said.
The current management team overseeing NAID will stay on as staff of i-SIGMA. http://bit.ly/2KSaXR2
